In 1654 the land that is now Northampton was purchased by Puritans from the Nonotuck Indians and history was in the making. Located between Boston, New York City and Albany, this little town was stricken with witch hysteria in 1656, economic depression in 1789, transportation woes in 1808 and had a future president as their mayor (Calvin Coolidge) in 1910. Northampton has plenty to be proud of, not only that it is the birthplace of the Graham Crack and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but that creativity is very much a present and past way of life.
