Riverside Towers Seniors Enjoy End Of Summer Beach Party

If we can't get to the beach, we'll bring the beach to us!!! This was the rallying cry for residents and staff at Riverside Towers, a housing development for elderly and disabled residents, overlooking the Mystic River in Medford Square.

Medford, MA (August 2008) -- If we can't get to the beach, we'll bring the beach to us!!! This was the rallying cry for residents and staff at Riverside Towers, a housing development for elderly and disabled residents, overlooking the Mystic River in Medford Square. The community's annual end of summer party was held last week and the theme was a beach party. Residents came to the festive community room to party, sporting their best beachwear, including an array of colorful outfits and oversized beach hats. Sean Fitzpatrick, veteran sand sculptor entertained the residents by building a sand castle in the middle of the room from a fresh block of sand. It remained in the community room for days after the party for residents who may not have been able to attend to enjoy.

Richard Henken, President of Federal Management made a guest appearance to mingle with residents and emcee a raffle of beach-themed prizes. "This is what it's all about," Henken said when asked about attending the party. "We're in the business of keeping our residents happy."

Jackie Fitzpatrick, Resident Services Coordinator and Sherry Paulino, Assistant Property Manager, kept the blender going and handed out frozen drinks with bamboo umbrellas to thirsty party goers. Residents are already looking forward to their annual Thanksgiving party. One resident was overhead announcing to Mr. Henken, "Do you remember me? I carved the turkey last year!"
