Symphony Plaza, a 404-unit, two-tower development in Boston, has been given the Exemplary Development for the Elderly award from the New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA).

The award is part of NEAHMA's Communities of Quality Awards, which honor the achievements of affordable housing providers who have made contributions to the affordable housing industry by developing and maintaining properties that are safe and vibrant places to live, according to a statement. A congratulatory certificate will be displayed in Symphony Plaza's lobby.

"I'm not surprised that Symphony Plaza received this award, but I am very proud," said Byron Rushing, a Boston legislative chair.

Symphony Plaza is owned by Long Beach, Calif.-based nonprofit Retirement Housing Foundation.
