The holiday season can be especially challenging for seniors living on fixed incomes, particularly for those who share their lives with beloved pets. This year, residents of Retirement Housing Foundation’s Capitol Towers Apartments in Hartford, CT, were among those supported through Senior Paws, a compassionate program that helps seniors care for the animals who bring them comfort, companionship, and purpose.
Senior Paws provides food, toys, supplies, and veterinary assistance to seniors with pets, helping ensure that animals can remain in the loving homes they already know. For many residents, pets are more than companions. They are family, routine, and a steady source of emotional support.
During the holidays, the program delivers gift bags filled with treats, toys, handwritten notes, and essential items. These gifts are made possible through the generosity of community partners, schools, and volunteers who come together with a shared goal of spreading kindness.
Senior Paws is operated through the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary and honors the legacy of compassion and care for animals that inspired its creation. Each delivery is a reminder that small acts of generosity can have a lasting impact.
At Schochet, we believe strong communities are built through connection, empathy, and looking out for one another. We are grateful to see programs like Senior Paws supporting residents at Capitol Towers and helping make the holiday season a little brighter for both people and their pets.
